Architect-Led Concealed Apex Shading


Aperture Shading was recommended to the architect, who then contacted us to help resolve the shading requirements for the room.

The brief was to provide effective light and heat control, together with privacy, without allowing the blind or its hardware to intrude on the apex glazing or dominate the room.

We worked with the architect on precise detail early, this allowed them to adjust the plaster boarding to incorporate a concealed section for the Apex blind. When the blind is open, the installation reads as part of the wall rather than as a prominent pelmet or exposed blind system, with additional slimline side legs for additional light control.

The apex glazing required a shaped pleated blind that followed the geometry of the opening and worked as part of the wider architectural design. The finished blind retracts neatly when not in use, while providing light control, heat control and privacy when deployed.

This project demonstrates why complex glazing needs to be considered early. The right result depends not only on the blind itself, but also on the fabric, headrails, surrounding structure and how the shading system is integrated into the room.

Somfy 24V motors

The blinds are powered by Somfy 24V motors and controlled with a simple handset. The home owners can operate each blind individually or control all blinds in the room together as a group, giving flexible control over light, heat and privacy.
